Stefan Kozlov defeated fellow American and doubles partner Henrik Wiersholm, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3, in a three-hour match to successfully defend his singles title at the AEGON Junior International in Bolton, England, the first of two premier international junior tournaments for players ages 14 and under being held in Europe this month.

Both Kozlov and Wiersholm are competing as part of a USTA contingent that is in England this week and will travel to France next week for Les Petits As.

Kozlov, a 12-year-old from Pembroke Pines, Fla., and the No. 3 seed, dropped his only set of the tournament in the final against Wiersholm. He also defeated Wiersholm, 6-1, 6-0, last month in the semifinals of the USTA Boys’ 14s Winter National Championships.

In addition, Kozlov and Wiersholm partnered together to win the doubles title Thursday, upsetting top-seeded Andrey Rublev of Russia and Alexander Zverev of Germany, 6-2, 6-3.

Julia O’Loughlin, a 13-year-old from Boca Raton, Fla., had the best showing of the American girls, reaching the semifinals in singles. She also reached the doubles semifinals with partner Nicole Frenkel of Winchester, Mass.

Other Americans selected by the USTA to compete in the European tournaments include Eduardo Nava of Woodland Hills, Calif.; Kenadi Hance of Torrance, Calif.; and Carolyn Xie of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
