Rodney Marshall, a Strength and Conditioning Coach for USTA Player Development, is currently in Europe training American star Jack Sock as he prepares for the upcoming French Open. This week, Marshall and Sock are at Rafael Nadal's tennis academy in Manacor, Mallorca, in Spain. Marshall is blogging for PlayerDevelopment.USTA.com during his time in Europe. In his first entry, he writes about what a typical day of training looks like with the American No. 1.

Buenos dias.

The red clay-court swing is in full effect, with many of our American players all over Europe. Currently, I'm in Mallorca, Spain, doing a training week with Jack Sock and his coach, Troy Hahn. We are training daily at the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy in Manacor. The facility is fit for the "King of Clay" and simply amazing. Yesterday, we met Kamryn Taub, a junior from Sacramento, and she's training here for the week.

Below is the daily schedule of our first day of training, as we get acclimated to the time change and the red clay:

7:45 a.m. - Departure to Academy
8:15 a.m. - Breakfast
9 a.m. - Warm-up/gym session #1
10 a.m. - Tennis #1
12:30 p.m. - Cool down/stretch
1 p.m. - Lunch
3 p.m. - Tennis #2
4 p.m. - Gym session #2
5:30 p.m. - Stretch
6:30 p.m. - Normatec Recovery
8 p.m. - Dinner

As you can see in our schedule, our days are pretty full. Dinner generally starts pretty late, as most places don't open until 8 p.m. and later in Spain.

Buenas noches.
