Hoy fue un buen día para el equipo De Estados Unidos. Los chicos jugaron muy bien contra Guatemala y no se encontraron con mucha resistencia. Realizamos algunos cambios para el partido de hoy. En estos eventos hay que pensar un paso adelantado con las decisiones que se hacen. Sabemos que el último partido será con Canadá y será un partido muy rendido. Entonces, decidí descansar a nuestro jugador #1 para que este fresco para Canadá. Al mismo tiempo me da oportunidad jugar a nuestro #3 en singles y si lo necesito contra Canadá ya tendrá un partido de singles jugado.
Después de los partidos salimos todos los equipos de Estados Unidos a cenar juntos. Encontramos un excelente restaurante al pie del hotel donde tienen comida Italiana. Si conoces a tenistas... sabes que con comida Italiana no te puede ir mal. Los chicos comieron como si no hubiera un mañana! Ahora al hotel a descansar y prepararse para mañana.
Preparación en el tenis es unas de la cosas más importantes. Como me preparo para cada bola.. como me preparo para cada punto, partido.. toda esta preparación empieza con la parte mental. Todas las noches nos reunimos como equipo y hablamos del próximo partido y el plan de mañana. Quiero que los chicos vayan a dormir pensando y teniendo claro que nos espera el próximo día.

Today was a good day for the United States team. The boys played very well against Guatemala and didn't find much resistance. We made some changes for today's match. In these types of events, you have to think one step ahead when making decisions. We know that the last match against Canada will be a tough one. Therefore, I decided to rest our No. 1 player so that he is fresh against Canada. This also gives me the opportunity to play our No. 3 player in singles, and if I need him against Canada, he will have a singles match under his belt.
After the matches, we went with the entire United States team for dinner. We found a nice Italian restaurant across the street from the hotel. If you know tennis players... you know that with Italian food you can't go wrong. The boys ate like there was no tomorrow! Now back to the hotel, rest and prepare for tomorrow's match.
In tennis, preparation is one of the most important things. How do I prepare for each ball... how do I prepare before a point, match... this all starts with the mind. Each night we get together as a team and discuss the next day's match and the plan for tomorrow. I want all the boys thinking and having a clear idea of what is in store for the next day.
