USTA National Coach Eric Nunez is the captain of the U.S. Junior Davis Cup team competing this week at the 16-and-under Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas in Campeche, Mexico. Hola amigos! Les escribo desde Campeche, México donde es la sede de la clasificación de para Junior Davis Cup y World Junior Tennis Finals.
Llegamos ayer por la noche junto a el equipo femenino que representarán a nuestro país. Después de un largo día de viaje, decidimos descansar toda la mañana y salir por la tarde al club para entrenar. El primer día de un viaje siempre es un día de aclimatación. Es importante que los jugadores puedan entrenar en las canchas que jugarán para poder empezar a sentirse a gusto con la condiciones. Cuales son las condiciones de Campeche??... MUY MUY CALIENTE!
Pensábamos entrenar solo una hora, pero los chicos tenían tantas ganas de jugar y se divirtieron tanto que el tiempo se nos pasó volando. Una cosa que siempre tenemos presente con los jugadores es que somos un equipo y tenemos que apoyarnos. Por esa misma razón todas nuestras prácticas han sido juntando a los jugadores de sub 16 y sub 14.
No son todos los días que uno puede tener el honor de representar a su país, y está experiencia para los chicos será inolvidable! Mañana tendremos un día más de práctica antes de los partidos, y se hará el sorteo para saber con quién jugamos el Jueves. Vamos USA!!!

We were thinking about training for only an hour, but the players were very excited, and they had so much fun that the time flew by. One thing that we always reinforce with our players is that we are a team and we have to support one another. It is for this same reason that all of our practices have been together, with both the 16-and-under and 14-and-under teams.
