December 2014 Honor Roll

The monthly USTA Player Development Player and Coach Honor Roll recognizes the top performing young Americans and their coaches each month.

Here’s a look at some of the most outstanding performances turned in by American tennis players ages 20 and younger in December:

CiCi Bellis (Apr. 8, 1999), Atherton, Calif. – Bellis (pictured) clinched the ITF’s year-end No. 1 junior ranking and was named ITF World Junior Champion after advancing to the singles semifinals at the Orange Bowl in Plantation, Fla. – where she also won the doubles title. She is coached by her mother, Lori.

Jenny Brady (Apr. 12, 1995), Boca Raton, Fla. – Brady, now a sophomore at UCLA, strung together strong results at consecutive $25,000 pro events in Merida, Mexico, reaching the semifinals the first week and the quarters the next. She is coached by Stella Sampras Webster and Rance Brown.

Kelly Chen (May 9, 1999), Cerritos, Calif. – Chen won the Girls’ 18s singles title at the USTA Winter National Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. She is coached by Debbie Graham Shaffer.

Morgan Coppoc (Apr. 16, 1999), Tulsa, Okla. – Coppoc won the Girls’ 16s singles title at the USTA Winter National Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. She is coached by Trent Tucker.

Emma Decoste (Feb. 12, 2000), Stuart, Fla. – Won the Orange Bowl Girls’ 16s doubles title. She is coached by her father, Scott.

Caroline Dolehide (Sept. 5, 1998), Hinsdale, Ill. – Dolehide reached the Girls’ 18s singles semifinals at Eddie Herr and followed up that performance with a quarterfinal appearance at the Orange Bowl. She is coached by Tom Lockhart.

William Genesen (Sept. 19, 1997), Tulsa, Okla. – Genesen won the Boys’ 18s singles title at the USTA Winter National Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. He is coached by Matias Marin.

Cali Jankowski (Aug. 8, 2000), Carlsbad, Calif. – Jankowski won the Girls’ 14s singles title at the USTA Winter National Championships in Tucson, Ariz. She is coached by Guy Fritz and Christian Groh.

Sofia Kenin (Nov. 14, 1998), Pembroke Pines, Fla. – A week after winning the Eddie Herr Girls’ 18s doubles title with Jessica Ho (Wexford, Pa.), Kenin won the Girls’ 18s singles title at the Orange Bowl. She is coached by her father, Alex.

Stefan Kozlov (Feb. 1, 1998), Pembroke Pines, Fla. – Kozlov, the No. 3-ranked junior in the world, swept the Orange Bowl Boys’ 18s singles and doubles titles in Plantation, Fla. He works with USTA National Coach Nicolas Todero.

Michael Mmoh (Jan 10, 1998), Temple Hills, Md. – Mmoh advanced to the Boys’ 18s singles final at Eddie Herr, then won the Boys’ 18s doubles title at the Orange Bowl, rising back into the top 10 of the world junior rankings to start 2015. He is coached by Glenn Weiner.

Govind Nanda (Feb. 17, 2001), Redlands, Calif. – Nanda won the Boys’ 14s singles title at the USTA Winter National Championships in Tucson, Ariz. He is coached by Stuart Levchenko.

Ingrid Neel (Jun. 16, 1998), Rochester, Minn. – Neel qualified for the Orange Bowl Girls’ 18s singles draw, then won eight matches in a row to reach the final. She is coached by Margie Zesinger.

Reilly Opelka (Aug. 28, 1997), Palm Coast, Fla. – Opelka rose to No. 20 in the world junior rankings by winning the Eddie Herr Boys’ 18s singles title, then reaching the Boys’ 18s semifinals at the Orange Bowl the next week. He works with USTA National Coach Diego Moyano.

Whitney Osuigwe (Apr. 17, 2002), Bradenton, Fla. – Won the Junior Orange Bowl Girls’ 12s singles title. She is coached by her father, Desmond.

Gianna Pielet (Jun. 11, 2002), El Paso, Texas – Pielet won the Girls’ 12s singles title at the USTA Winter National Championships in Tucson, Ariz. She is coached by her father, Doug.

Kariann Pierre-Louis (Jan. 16, 1999), Miami, Fla. – Won the Orange Bowl Girls’ 16s doubles title. She is coached by Konstantin Anisimov.

Sam Riffice (Mar. 1, 1999), Roseville, Calif. – Riffice won the Boys’ 16s singles titles at both Eddie Herr and the Orange Bowl, joining Grigor Dimitrov as the only players to accomplish that feat. He is coached by his mother, Lori, and works with USTA National Coach Sylvain Guichard.

Sofia Sewing (Jul. 22, 1999), Doral, Fla. – Sewing won the Girls’ 16s singles title at Eddie Herr in Bradenton, Fla. She is coached by Robert Gomez.

Niroop Vallabhaneni (May 28, 2002), Scottsdale, Ariz. – Vallabhaneni won the Boys’ 12s singles title at the USTA Winter National Championships in Tucson, Ariz. He is coached by Jeremy Coll.

J.J. Wolf (Dec. 21, 1998), Cincinnati, Ohio – Wolf won the Boys’ 16s singles title at the USTA Winter National Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. He is coached by his father, Jeff.
