Alex Rybakov blog: Training with Gil Reyes

June 17, 2016 09:09 AM

Four elite men’s college underclassmen – Billy Griffith of Cal, Alfredo Perez of Florida, Alex Rybakov of TCU and Henrik Weirsholm of Virginia – are currently in Las Vegas training with Gil Reyes, Andre Agassi’s longtime strength and conditioning trainer, who began working with USTA Player Development earlier this year as a “master strength and conditioning coach.” Reyes is hosting a strength and conditioning camp for the players that began on June 13 and runs through July 1.

Rybakov, who recently finished his freshman year at TCU ranked No. 21 in the Division I college rankings, is blogging for USTA.com about the camp. In his first entry, he recounts one of his days in Vegas, including the workout regimen, his favorite part of the day and more.

Thursday, June 16

Hey guys. Just checking in after another solid day in Vegas.

The day started with a good breakfast, and then we went over to Gil's gym for our first fitness session of the day. We started off as always loosening up with 10 free throws each, with Billy Griffith getting the No. 1 spot after going sudden death once we both finished 8/10. Then we had a good lift and headed back to the house to relax before we hit.

After our daily 30-minute nap between fitness and tennis, we went over to the courts for our practice session. I had a great hit with Henrik and stretched out.

It was a long and successful day, but I think the best part was our dinner, which was at an all-you-can-eat Brazilian steakhouse. Not only did we stuff ourselves with food, but we got to watch Game 6 of the NBA Finals and stayed updated on USA's win over Ecuador in soccer.

Now I am back at the house and recovering before another day in Vegas! Thanks for following, and go Frogs!

Alex
