Jason Harnett has been coaching wheelchair tennis for over two decades and was a part of the first national coaching staff in 1998, when the USTA officially became the sport's national governing body. Since 2016, he has been a USTA national manager and head coach for wheelchair tennis.

Harnett has captained nine world championship teams at the World Team Cup, most notably winning nine titles and reaching 11 finals in 13 years with the U.S. quad team. In addition to his work with the men’s team, he also coached the junior team twice, in 2015 and 2017, and led the squad to national titles both times.

Also with Team USA, Harnett has been an assistant coach in each of the last four Olympic Games, and he is set to make his debut as head coach at Tokyo in 2020. This August, he will take part in his fourth Parapan American Games.

Harnett has worked with many world-class players in his time with the USTA, including the four current Team USA quad athletes, David Wagner, Nick Taylor, Bryan Barten and Greg Hasterok. He has also coached John Rydberg, who is serving as the men’s coach for the 2019 World Team Cup, as well as former men's world No. 1 Steve Welch and former quad world No. 1s Rick Draney, Chris Studwell and Brian Hanson.
