Six top junior girls have been named to the 2019 Team USA National Junior Team, a training program designed to give a collection of America’s best young players, born in either 2003 or 2004, opportunities to train together during the summer and travel to play against top junior competition from around the world. The boys’ team was selected in March.

Five players earned selection onto the team based on automatic qualification, while Ellie Coleman qualified for the team through a playoff, held April 30-May 3 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. Players were invited for the playoff based on ITF World Tennis Tour junior or USTA national ranking.

In 2018, Price was the singles champion at the Mundial Juvenil de Tenis junior event in Cuenca, Ecuador, and competed in the Roland Garros, Wimbledon and US Open Junior Championships, receiving three Excellence Grants along the way.  Krueger received two Excellence Awards in 2019 in addition to reaching the semifinals of the ITF World Tennis Tour W15 event in Carson, Calif. last month.

Scott, a two-time Excellence Grant recipient in 2019, was a semifinalist at the Grade 1 junior events in Barranquilla, Colombia, and Carson, Calif., earlier this year. Montgomery (pictured above) received two Excellence Grants this year, in addition to reaching the Easter Bowl final in March followed by a semifinal run at the USTA International Spring Championships (ISC) in Carson, Calif., in April.

Ma is currently ranked in the top 700 of the WTA singles rankings and last month was the singles runner-up at ISC. Coleman guaranteed her spot on the team via the Team USA playoff held last week at the USTA National Campus. Coleman was a semifinalist at the Easter Bowl in Indian Wells, Calif.
