Rodney Harmon was named Director of Men’s Tennis for USTA High Performance in January 2002. He directs all aspects of the Men’s Tennis Program and reports to Paul Roetert in this role.
Prior to his current position, he served as USTA Director of Multicultural Development. He was responsible for developing strategies and implementing initiatives to increase the diversity of national tennis programs in all communities. Rodney was a tennis coach at the University of Miami and a USTA national coach.
A former pro player, Rodney became the only African-American man besides Arthur Ashe to reach the quarterfinals at the US Open (1982). Rodney was also a three-time NCAA All American and NCAA Doubles Champion with Mel Purcell at the University of Tennessee.
