May 23, 2012 10:02 AM
USTA Player Development announced a new recognition program for players and their coaches who have achieved outstanding results on the professional and/or junior level. USTA Player Development will issue a Player Honor Roll each month honoring all players who have achieved specific results during that month and a Coaches Honor Roll on a bi-annual basis that will recognize multiple coaches at a time.

"There are numerous coaches and players across the country who are doing some great things. USTA Player Development wants to shine a spotlight on the outstanding results that are being achieved and provide these players and their coaches with the recognition they deserve," said Patrick McEnroe, General Manager, USTA Player Development.

The Player Honor Roll will recognize those players each month who have reached:
  • Semifinals or better at a USTA or ITF Pro Circuit event
  • Final or better at a USTA National Championship
  • Final or better at an ITF World Junior Circuit event

The Player Honor Roll will denote the players’ achievement(s) as well as list their personal coaches and/or facilities where they train.

The Coaches Honor Roll will be selected by the USTA Player Identification & Development team in conjunction with the USTA National Coaching staff and will feature each coach’s bio along with a list of the players they work with and their achievements for which the coach is being honored.  At the end of the year, one of the coaches who has been recognized during the course of the year will be nominated by the USTA for the United States Olympic Committee’s (USOC) Developmental (Tennis) Coach of the Year.

Both the Player and Coaches Honor Rolls will be housed on the USTA Player Development website at: http://www.usta.com/About-USTA/Player-Development/.
