November Honor Roll

The monthly USTA Player Development Player and Coach Honor Roll recognizes the top performing young Americans and their coaches each month.
 
Here’s a look at some of the most outstanding performances turned in by American tennis players ages 20 and younger in November:
 
William Blumberg (Jan. 26, 1998), Greenwich, Conn. – After winning the singles title at the USTA Atlanta ITF Junior Event in October, Blumberg swept the singles and doubles titles at the USTA South Carolina ITF Junior Event in Columbia, S.C., in November.  He works with USTA National Coaches Jay Devashetty and Jorge Todero.
 
Hayley Carter (May 17, 1995), Hilton Head, S.C. – Carter held strong in her home state, winning the USTA South Carolina ITF Junior Event in Columbia, defeating fellow American Kaitlyn McCarthy in the title match. She trains out of the Smith Stearns Tennis Academy.
 
Madison Keys (Feb. 17, 1995), Rock Island, Ill. – Keys continued her impressive fall by winning the USTA Pro Circuit $75,000 tournament in Phoenix, defeating former world No. 30 Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the second round and Maria Sanchez in the final. Keys then became the second-youngest player ranked in the WTA Top 140. She is coached by USTA National Coach Juan Todero.
 
Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Feb. 13, 1995), Charlotte, N.C. – Kwiatkowski took his talents south of the border, reaching the singles final of the XXVI Yucatan Cup in Mexico. He works with USTA National Coach Stanford Boster.
 
Baker Newman (Oct. 6, 1995), Miami – Newman won eight singles matches at the Evert American ITF Junior Event in Boca Raton, Fla., qualifying for the main draw, then making a run to the final, where he lost to Vadym Kalyuzhnyy.
 
Maria Shishkina (July 22, 1998), Bradenton, Fla. – Shishkina dominated the Evert American ITF Junior Event in Boca Raton, Fla., double-bageling three opponents en route to capturing the singles title over American Maria Smith. She is coached by Dennis Pelegrin.
 
Maria Smith (May 6, 1997), Houston – Smith advanced to the final of the Evert American ITF Junior Event in Boca Raton, Fla., falling to Shishkina in the title match. She is coached by her father Paul.
 
Jack Sock (Sept. 24, 1992), Lincoln, Neb. – Sock advanced all the way to the title match of the USTA Pro Circuit $50,000 Challenger in Champaign, Ill., only to be topped by fellow American Tim Smyczek in a three-set final. He is coached by Joakim Nystrom.
 
Henrik Wiersholm (March 27, 1997), Kirkland, Wash. – Wiersholm made it to the title match of the USTA South Carolina ITA Junior Event in Columbia, pushing Blumberg in the final before dropping the third set, 7-5. He works with Dan Willman and USTA National Coach Nicolas Todero.
